Bremen Literature Prize 2026

The Bremer Literaturpreis is one of the oldest and most prestigious awards for German-language literature: with a prize of 25,000 Euros, it was first awarded in 1954 and expanded to include a Förderpreis in 1977.

We are pleased to announce that the winner of this 72nd edition is Heinz Strunk for his short story collection Kein Geld Kein Glück Kein Sprit (No Money No Happiness No Gas) / Rowohlt.

The Förderpreis, meanwhile, will be awarded to Kaleb Erdmann for his novel Die Ausweichschule (The Emergency School) / Park x Ullstein, which will soon be published in Italy by Mondadori.

The award ceremony will take place on January 26.
Congratulations to our authors!
