The Cundill History Prize - the shortlist

The Cundill History Prize is a prestigious international award dedicated to historical non-fiction.
This year’s shortlist includes titles ranging from women’s rights to Soviet dissidents, from liberation struggles in Korea and Haiti to a 16th-century European peasant revolt.
We are delighted to find Greg Grandin’s America, América among them!
We are representing the book on behalf of Penguin Press (Penguin USA).

The eight books on our list are all quite different from one another, but all share some essential characteristics: analytical sharpness, engaging writing, and a firm belief that what the past reveals must be urgently understood. The committee is so proud to present this slate of eight books to the world.

The three works that take the top three spots will be announced on September 30, while the winner will be revealed on October 30 at the Cundill History Prize Festival in Montreal.
