Heike Geißler vince il Premio Letterario della Sassonia 2026
Siamo lieti di annunciare che la scrittrice tedesca Heike GEIßLER, da noi rappresentata per conto di Suhrkamp, è la vincitrice del Premio Letterario della Sassonia 2026, riconoscimento dotato con 10.000 euro e assegnatole per la sua opera completa.
La giuria ha elogiato la capacità dell’autrice di affrontare con rigore e sensibilità, attraverso romanzi e saggi, i temi della contemporaneità, del lavoro e delle trasformazioni sociali.

“Wherever she enters the scene, she fights. Whether in her essays—Verzweiflungen(2025), Arbeiten(2025), Liegen (2022), Saisonarbeit(2014)—or in her novels, from her 2002 debut Rosathrough the protest novel Die Woche (2022) to her newly published Michaela Kohlhaas, Heike Geißler never makes things easy for herself or for her readers: she wrestles, reflects, and questions. She is an author deeply engaged with the present and with the realities of contemporary society, yet her writing is never dogmatic or self-righteous. Instead, it remains inquisitive, at times tender, and often quietly touched by despair. Her analysis of the present unfolds on multiple levels, taking shape both in the personal voice of her essays and in the exuberant, fairy-tale-like, experimental form of her books. In her latest novel, Michaela Kohlhaas, for example, the protagonist enters a struggle unlike any previously imagined, confronting the fragility of solidarity and the commodification of society with the full force of her physical presence and linguistic power. Heike Geißler observes the world with the insight of a political philosopher. Her texts are rich in perception, virtuoso in their language, and ultimately carry a consoling quality. With the 2026 Saxon Literature Prize, the jury honours an author whose more than twenty years of literary work have established her as one of the most compelling voices in contemporary German-language literature.”

Heike Geißler ha studiato americanistica, scienze politiche e geografia a Dresda, oltre a ispanistica e letterature comparate a Halle. È stata insignita, tra gli altri, dei premi Lessing, Klopstock, Heinrich Böll e del Premio letterario della Baviera.
La cerimonia di premiazione si terrà il 15 ottobre presso la Biblioteca civica di Lipsia.
